About Drexel University

Located just west of the Schuylkill River and north of the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University is home to a pioneering online education program, a nationally-recognized engineering curriculum and the nation's oldest co-op program. Anthony J. Drexel founded Drexel University in 1891 as the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry, and the institution adopted its current name in 1970.

According to the Princeton Review, Drexel University enrolled 13,484 students as of 2010, with a student-faculty ratio of 9:1. This Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, university offers associates, bachelors and master's degrees, and biology, information science and mechanical engineering are the most popular majors among Drexel's students. Drexel University's website states that the university was one of the first to transition to a fully wireless campus.
